Sales Manager
A leading global packaging company, renowned for its innovative and sustainable solutions, specializes in high-quality corrugated packaging products is searching for a Sales Manager in the Greater Detroit Area. As the Sales Manager, you will lead and manage the sales team to drive revenue and volume growth by offering unique consultative services and strategic value to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the productivity of the sales team, ensuring representatives focus on customer needs and leverage extensive market knowledge of corrugated packaging, technical expertise, and consumer insights.
- Train and coach sales representatives, support the Business Unit Sales Manager in setting goals, direction, and standards for customer interactions, and provide ongoing support to customers, plants, Sales Representatives, and leadership.
Impact:
- Lead the sales team to surpass volume and profit targets through new account development, growth in existing accounts, and margin improvement initiatives.
- Develop the sales strategy for the business unit in collaboration with the Business Unit Sales Manager to define strategic goals and direction.
- Create processes, training programs, and tools to implement the business unit strategy, aligning activities and KPIs with strategic objectives.
- Manage the sales team to build and maintain a robust prospect pipeline to meet volume growth targets and drive results.
- Guide the sales team in identifying, closing, developing, and growing strategic accounts.
- Develop pricing and sales strategies for each target account in partnership with Sales Representatives and Pre-Pricing Specialists, ensuring strategic pricing recommendations align with business unit requirements, profitability goals, and plant production capabilities.
- Negotiate large customer contracts and support the development of formal agreements in collaboration with Sales Representatives, Management, and Legal.
- Manage the pipeline through monthly sales meetings and cadence calls with Sales Representatives.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and monthly forecasts.
- Conduct monthly performance review meetings with direct reports to assess performance, identify and remove obstacles, and discuss growth and development opportunities.
- Mentor and train the sales team to build industry knowledge, relationship development skills, and proficiency with systems, tools, and processes.
- Onboard, train, and coach new team members to quickly become productive and effective.
- Retain top talent and keep them motivated, engaged, and continuously developing their capabilities.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D.; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, preferably in the manufacturing or corrugated industry; 5 years of sales leadership experience preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales objectives.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills to achieve goals and objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in order entry systems, CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), and reporting systems.
