A food manufacturer who supplies food for school breakfasts, lunches, and other meals is seeking a strong Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager to become a part of their team in their corporate office! This FSQA Manager will be supporting the QA/QC teams by researching and developing menu items, products, processes, and operational procedures.

The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the supplier approval program at co-manufacturing and co-packaging facilities for QA/QC compliance.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments on product roll-out and compliance checks, including sourcing, production, safety, training, and materials.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate projects while ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance in menu development.
  • Define safety compliance markers for products using laboratory resources (shelf life, micro analysis, storage guidelines).
  • Resolve technical safety issues and handle feedback during development, production, handling, or product performance.
  • Partner with QA/QC to develop programs and strategies to reduce product risks.

Provide timely, accurate data and analysis to plant and corporate management.

  • Lead and execute food safety functions to support company goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed customer, regulatory, and company food safety requirements.
  • Assist QA supervisors in decision-making in the absence of the QA manager.
  • Manage Food Safety department activities to achieve consistent results as per company matrix and regulatory mandates.
  • Develop, document, and implement food safety processes and procedures to ensure continuous monitoring and maintenance.
  • Drive continuous improvement through technology and scientific research to enhance food safety programs.
  • Provide leadership and actively participate in project teams to address food safety concerns.
  • Maintain open communication with corporate QA, plant management, sales, and marketing to address potential food safety issues.

The ideal Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager candidate will have the following skill set:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a HACCP, QA, or food safety supervisory role within poultry and/or food processing.
  • Preferred experience in further processing facilities.
  • Must be or become a Certified Food Safety Manager or equivalent, with HACCP certification.
  • Goal-oriented and driven, with a sense of urgency to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-specific software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of HACCP, USDA, FDA, and SOP regulations.
