Maintenance Manager
Summary:
The Maintenance Manager will oversee the production maintenance function at the manufacturing facility. This role includes managing an annual maintenance and repair budget, including personnel costs, exceeding $8 million.
This position is supported by Maintenance Supervisors and a Planning/MRO Supervisor as direct reports, and oversees a technical team of over 60 full-time employees.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement technical maintenance support systems and processes.
- Lead process improvement projects.
- Serve as a key member of the facility's Engineering & Maintenance organization.
- Plan, supervise, and schedule all machinery, electrical, and packaging maintenance projects to optimize facility and personnel use.
- Ensure maintenance activities are conducted effectively within budget and schedule constraints.
- Communicate maintenance schedule changes, project specification changes, and labor variances throughout the facility.
- Promote the development of new job methods and procedures; maintain systems and procedures to enhance productivity in the maintenance unit.
- Ensure contracts are correctly interpreted and uniformly followed by maintenance personnel.
- Develop and recommend the annual maintenance budget and goals, incorporating input from plant leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and liaise with state and federal representatives to maintain adherence to laws and regulations.
- Support the internal Continuous Improvement Program (Sweet Success) by facilitating Professional Maintenance and Autonomous Activities pillars.
- Motivate team members to achieve plan goals and foster a data-driven, team-based culture.
- Understand the Commissioning, Qualification, Verification (CQV) process.
- Apply reliability expertise to stabilize and improve operations, reducing variation and enhancing Total Effectiveness (TE) through capital, procedural, and operational improvements in both planned and unplanned downtime areas.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Packaging, Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Food Processing, Manufacturing, Chemical, or Civil) or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in the food processing industry managing a diverse, technical staff.
- Experience with CMMS systems and TPM methodology.
- In-depth knowledge of food industry processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Understanding of financial indicators and experience in budget development and management.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, hazard communications, accident investigation, and safety training methods).
- Strong people management skills, including communication, leadership, effective presentation, coaching, crisis management, motivation, team building, organization, time management, and stress management.
- Good written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently, and results-oriented.
- Flexibility to work during non-business hours to meet business needs.
