We are a leading heavy manufacturing company specializing in industrial machinery and components. As we continue to grow, we need an experienced Head of Procurement to take ownership of our procurement function and drive efficiency across our supply chain.
The Opportunity
This role is a mix of hands-on team leadership and strategic supplier management. You'll oversee a team of 5-10 buyers, ensuring smooth procurement operations, while also refining our supplier base to enhance cost savings and flexibility. You'll have the autonomy to evaluate and shift sourcing strategies, focusing on local alternatives where they add value.
What You'll Do
Lead the team: Manage and develop a team of 5-10 purchasing professionals, ensuring efficient and timely procurement aligned with production schedules.
Optimize supplier relationships: Drive cost-saving initiatives, negotiate favorable terms, and secure reliable deliveries of high-quality materials.
Refine sourcing strategies: Assess the global supply chain and identify opportunities to localize sourcing for better value and shorter lead times.
Negotiate contracts: Secure optimal pricing, terms, and conditions while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Manage inventory and demand: Align procurement activities with production schedules, balancing supply chain efficiency with cost control.
Provide strategic insights: Track key procurement metrics and deliver data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
What You'll Bring
Proven leadership experience managing purchasing teams.
Strong negotiation skills and a track record of driving cost efficiencies.
Deep understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
Strategic mindset with hands-on operational capabilities.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Fluency in Romanian and English; additional languages are a plus.
