Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Customs Compliance Manager to oversee and ensure compliance with UK and international customs regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing customs processes, ensuring regulatory adherence, and optimising trade compliance strategies for our freight forwarding operations. This role requires expertise in customs regulations, trade compliance, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage customs compliance for import and export operations.

  • Ensure adherence to UK and international customs regulations, including HMRC requirements.

  • Develop and implement customs compliance policies and best practices.

  • Liaise with customs authorities, trade bodies, and regulatory agencies.

  • Monitor changes in customs laws and provide guidance on compliance requirements.

  • Train and educate internal teams on customs procedures and regulatory updates.

  • Optimise customs clearance processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Conduct audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

  • Work closely with operations and sales teams to support client requirements.

  • Manage customs documentation, tariff classifications, and duty payments.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in customs compliance within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of UK and international customs regulations, including HMRC procedures.

  • Experience with customs declarations, tariff classifications, and duty management.

  • Strong understanding of Brexit-related trade compliance impacts.

  • Excellent analytically, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in customs software, trade compliance systems, and MS Office.

  • Customs compliance certifications (e.g., CPC, AEO, or equivalent) are preferred.

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
