Project Engineer
Company:
One of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum, with global brands enjoyed in more than 150 countries, is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team in Rockford, IL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Propose changes to equipment or processes for material savings and improved efficiencies, and analyze plant operations to reduce downtime, utility consumption, and safety issues.
- Manage vendors, contractors, and plant personnel to ensure timely project completion, and maintain technical layouts of plant and production equipment on ACAD and 3D engineering database.
- Identify and implement changes to equipment to address safety and health concerns, and provide guidance for preventative and repair maintenance.
- Communicate with equipment vendors and manufacturers on technical specifications, project timelines, budget estimates, and price negotiations.
- Perform technical/engineering analysis to determine equipment specifications, capacity limitations, maintenance requirements, part design, and equipment layouts.
- Plan and execute projects within the facility while ensuring safety and food safety standards, and ensure projects are completed within budget and timeline requirements.
- Evaluate and select equipment suppliers to meet process and packaging needs, and provide recommendations for line layouts, operating logic, and capital requirements.
- Engage in continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing processes, technology, and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (MBA Preferred).
- 4-6 years of demonstrated leadership in a manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years of experience with Engineering Projects Management or Execution.
- Technical System Analysis, Design Skills, Technical Understanding, Process Improvement, CAD, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Preventative Maintenance.
- Knowledge of process equipment, including food ingredients storage, conveying of powders and liquid ingredients, continuous and batch mixing processes, extrusion, cooling, and coating processes.
