About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Process Controls Engineer to join a dynamic team in the chemical manufacturing industry in Texas. This role is ideal for an individual with strong expertise in DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS), batch processing operations, and project management. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing control system performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading automation projects to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Control System Design & Integration - Develop, implement, and maintain DeltaV DCS-based control systems to improve plant operations, reliability, and safety.
- Batch Process Optimization - Manage and optimize batch processing operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and compliance with industry regulations.
- Project Management - Oversee automation and process control projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- System Troubleshooting & Maintenance - Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Compliance & Safety - Ensure all control systems adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA), and internal safety protocols.
- Collaboration & Training - Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to implement process improvements and train personnel on best practices in automation and controls.
- Continuous Improvement - Identify and implement advanced process control (APC) strategies and emerging technologies to enhance plant performance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in process controls, automation, or a related field, preferably in a chemical, petrochemical, or manufacturing environment.
Key Skills & Competencies
- DeltaV DCS Expertise - Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV control systems, including programming, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Batch Processing Acumen - Strong understanding of batch control strategies, recipe management, and production scheduling for improved efficiency.
- Project Management - Proven ability to lead projects, manage timelines, and coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Instrumentation & Control - Knowledge of process instrumentation, control loop tuning, and industrial automation best practices.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking - Ability to diagnose complex control system issues and implement effective solutions.
- Communication & Collaboration - Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with engineering teams, operators, and senior management.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider Electric).
- Knowledge of SCADA systems, industrial networking, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Familiarity with ISA-88 (Batch Process Control Standards) and ISA-95 (Enterprise-Control System Integration).
- Certifications such as Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
