Hr/Operations Manager
Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and dynamic HR Manager to oversee all human resources activities at a seafood production company. This role focuses on managing HR functions while providing operational support to ensure efficient HR practices. The ideal candidate will be passionate about people management, employee development, and fostering a positive work environment while working closely with the Operations team to align HR strategies with the overall operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Management:
- Lead the recruitment process, from job postings and interviews to hiring and onboarding of new employees.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local labor laws and industry regulations.
- Manage employee benefits programs (health, dental, retirement plans) and oversee payroll processing.
- Foster a positive company culture through employee engagement initiatives, communication, and feedback programs.
- Address employee relations issues, including resolving conflicts, handling grievances, and mediating disputes.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
- Conduct performance management processes, including employee reviews, goal-setting, and career development planning.
- Develop and deliver training programs focused on employee development, compliance, and skill enhancement.
- Ensure the company maintains a compliant and healthy work environment with a focus on workplace safety.
- Support diversity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
Operational Support:
- Work closely with the Operations team to align HR practices with operational needs.
- Support the development of workforce planning strategies to ensure optimal staffing levels for production shifts.
- Assist in creating and implementing training programs for operational staff to enhance productivity and compliance with food safety regulations.
- Help maintain a productive and safe work environment by identifying potential HR challenges and working with the operations team to address them.
- Provide HR insights and recommendations to improve employee productivity and reduce turnover.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in HR, with a preference for experience in food production or manufacturing settings.
- Strong understanding of labor laws, compliance, and employee relations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficient in HR software (e.g., ADP, BambooHR) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a food production environment with occasional exposure to factory settings.
- Occasional lifting of materials (up to 30 lbs) and standing for long periods.
