Primary Purpose of the Role:
The EHS Manager will oversee the design, implementation, and communication of safety, health, and environmental programs at the designated facility. This role is critical in fostering a safe and compliant working environment by mitigating risks and ensuring adherence to safety regulations. The ideal candidate will help build and sustain a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the facility complies with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
- Stay up-to-date with applicable safety and environmental laws, translating these into effective practices.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and documentation to manage and mitigate workplace risks.
- Plan and conduct safety training, track compliance, and facilitate health and safety meetings.
- Lead incident reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to address safety concerns.
- Promote engagement in safety initiatives across all employees and lead the facility's Safety Committee.
- Identify and address unsafe working conditions, advising management on corrective actions.
- Conduct regular safety audits and facility inspections to drive continuous improvements.
- Maintain site safety equipment and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Assist with food safety programs and ensure compliance with third-party safety audits.
- Support a safe working environment by monitoring facility and equipment conditions.
- Act as a catalyst for positive change in safety, quality, and productivity.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of manufacturing best practices and lean methodologies.
- Familiarity with machinery/operations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices, OSHA regulations, and environmental standards.
- Excellent communication skills in both oral and written forms.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong relationship-building skills and leadership experience.
- Ability to create a safety-focused work environment and motivate teams.
- Flexibility, self-motivation, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to manage records, track production orders, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to handle urgent off-shift incidents or investigations when needed.
- At least 5 years of experience in a safety-related role, with a preference for experience in the printing or paper industries.
