Role Overview:
As the Business Development Manager, your mission will be to drive the company's expansion in Europe by targeting and securing new clients, focusing on air and ocean freight forwarding (LCL) solutions. Your key objective will be to create, nurture, and leverage strategic relationships that will propel the company into new markets. You'll not only be expected to understand the technical aspects of freight forwarding, but also to be a creative problem-solver, working hand-in-hand with clients to provide tailored solutions. Experience in third-party logistics (3PL) is a strong asset, and having a well-established network in the logistics sector will put you ahead of the game.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the expansion of the European client base through proactive prospecting, cold outreach, and networking.
- Build long-term relationships with clients by offering customised air and ocean freight (LCL) solutions, focused on addressing their specific logistics needs.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in freight forwarding to offer cutting-edge solutions to clients.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of services and operational excellence.
- Devise and implement forward-thinking sales strategies that align with the company's growth goals across different European markets.
- Attend industry forums, conferences, and events to build the company's profile and generate new leads.
- Track and report on sales performance metrics, adapting strategies to meet or exceed targets.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable success in business development, particularly within the air and ocean freight forwarding (LCL) sectors.
- Proven ability to develop business in the logistics space, with experience in 3PL logistics as a bonus.
- An existing network within the freight forwarding industry will be highly advantageous.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for identifying new opportunities and driving growth.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to understand and address complex client needs.
- Fluent in English, with proficiency in additional European languages as a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Europe to meet with potential clients and attend industry events.
