Position Overview
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of materials, components, and equipment necessary for aerospace manufacturing. This role requires strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of the aerospace supply chain, and the ability to manage vendor relationships effectively. The ideal candidate will ensure that all purchasing activities are aligned with company goals and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure timely acquisition of materials, components, and equipment.
Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to meet production demands.
Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards and regulations.
Manage and optimize the procurement budget.
Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and assess market trends.
Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve supply chain efficiency and address any issues that arise.
Lead and mentor the purchasing team, promoting professional development and a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with at least 2 in a managerial role within the aerospace industry.
Comprehensive understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and industry regulations.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Proven leadership and team management experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
Professional certification such as CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management).
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Familiarity with ERP systems, especially in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
