Field Service Technician

A leading global manufacturer of precision machine tool equipment is seeking a highly experienced and self-driven Field Service Engineer. This hands-on role involves extensive travel across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with occasional travel to Central and South America. The successful candidate will troubleshoot, install, modify, and support advanced machine tool systems, working independently and as part of a team to ensure top-tier customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to perform installation, diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance on machine tool systems.
  • Provide emergency field support as part of an on-call rotation.
  • Deliver remote technical assistance and troubleshooting when working from the main U.S. office.
  • Support in-house machine testing, assembly, and modification activities.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of service activities and uphold safety and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and customer support teams to provide feedback and identify product improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience servicing machine tool equipment in the field.
  • Strong electrical knowledge, including the ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and PLC code for troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems expertise.
  • Valid passport and the ability to travel freely between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and occasionally South America.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in confined or awkward positions as needed.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Financial ability to travel with reimbursement upon submission of business expenses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience servicing a range of machine tools.
  • Bilingual capabilities in English and Japanese strongly preferred.

Working Environment

  • Frequent exposure to a wide variety of industrial and manufacturing environments, requiring adherence to strict safety, health, and access standards.
  • Position involves regular domestic and international travel, including overnight stays and extended periods away from home.
