EHS Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
Drive continuous improvement in site EHS and security performance by developing, implementing, and training on EHS policies and procedures. Ensure site compliance through activities such as inspections, audits, corrective actions, and best practices. Collaborate closely with other EHS professionals and department heads as part of the leadership team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Act as the EHS representative on the leadership team and during external visits and audits.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
- Maintain the PSM program and compliance for covered processes.
- Complete routine regulatory reports and filings (e.g., UIC, Tier II, TRI, RMP) and maintain site permits.
- Ensure EHS systems, procedures, and performance metrics are understood, implemented, and adhered to.
- Analyze and evaluate EHS performance, developing improvement plans to meet or exceed goals.
- Coordinate and conduct EHS training and maintain records.
- Lead and track incident and injury investigations and resolutions.
- Provide EHS expertise and support in process reviews and evaluations.
- Work with waste generators to characterize and qualify waste for Class 1 disposal through the U.S. EPA.
- Monitor wastewater and solid waste disposal operations for compliance and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering)
- 3+ years of experience in EHS
- 1+ years of experience in a PSM and/or RMP facility
- Proficient in MS Office products
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills to meet multiple deadlines with minimal supervision
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering)
- 3+ years of experience in a PSM and RMP facility
- 3+ years of experience in heavy industry (e.g., chemical, paper, refining)
- Experience with underground injection well technology
- Certified wastewater operator
- EHS-related certifications
