Production Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to oversee and manage all production operations at our seafood manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production, preferably within the seafood industry, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. You will be responsible for leading a team, ensuring that production goals are met, and optimizing production processes while maintaining the highest levels of quality and compliance with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
- Oversee daily seafood production operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are consistently met.
- Coordinate production schedules to ensure that orders are completed on time while optimizing resource usage.
- Monitor production output, ensuring maximum efficiency while maintaining quality control.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Manage inventory of raw materials and finished goods to ensure product availability while reducing waste.
- Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify areas for continuous improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and supervise production staff, including hiring, training, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety guidelines.
- Implement and maintain effective communication channels between production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics teams.
- Foster a positive and productive team culture that encourages accountability, collaboration, and employee engagement.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support career development and training.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and other industry-specific regulations.
- Oversee the implementation of quality control measures at each stage of production, ensuring products meet customer specifications and company standards.
- Ensure all documentation and reporting requirements are met, including compliance with regulatory bodies and internal audits.
- Coordinate with the quality assurance team to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
Operational Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate production processes and equipment to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall production performance.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure that equipment is well-maintained, and downtime is minimized.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure that all safety standards are adhered to and that all employees are trained in proper safety procedures.
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety audits.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management and sustainable practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in production management, preferably in the seafood or food manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and relevant seafood industry standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing facility with exposure to various environmental conditions, including cold storage areas and food production machinery.
- Occasional lifting of materials (up to 40 lbs).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a high-paced setting.
