Test Engineer

DSJ Global is currently partnered with an industry-leading wire and cable manufacturer in northern New Jersey on a new Test Engineer opportunity. This individual will be responsible for designing and executing new testing plans for new products. This is a lab based position specifically focused on R&D, new product development, and testing methodologies.

The Test Engineer will have the following responsibilities:

• Gain comprehensive knowledge of various laboratory test equipment, including their functions, maintenance, and calibration.
• Understand the procedures for qualification testing to ensure products meet industry standards and customer requirements.
• Develop skills in mechanical and electrical testing to assess the physical and electrical properties of products.
• Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Participate in safety training sessions and stay updated on the latest safety regulations and best practices.
• Study the different types of cable constructions, specific applications, and industry standards / regulations.
• Understand the internal specifications of the company's product line, including product line specifications, manufacturing standards, and technical requirements.
• Participate in developmental testing to support the innovation and improvement of products.
• Collaborate effectively with laboratory personnel, sharing knowledge and expertise to achieve common goals.
• Act as a liaison between the laboratory and other departments, such as Headquarters, Materials Research Laboratory, and Manufacturing.
• Assist the sales team in understanding product specifications and testing results to support their efforts in promoting and selling company products.

The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Engineering experience - can also be from relevant internships if new BSEE graduate.
• Exhibit knowledge of engineering principals - including product testing, power distribution, etc.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills required - will be responsible for presenting test findings to other departments - including manufacturing, corporate team, and sales team.
