Summary:
The General Manager will oversee the operations and growth of the Houston branch of a leading international Freight Forwarding and commodities warehousing organization. The role involves coordinating and leading Houston operations, building relationships with clients, and collaborating with the Managing Director of the USA to ensure seamless service delivery. Key responsibilities include formulating a clear strategy, managing performance, and allocating resources to deliver on this strategy. Deep knowledge of the Houston logistics market and experience in managing a logistics company are key requirements. Over the course of a year, this role will evolve into a Managing Director position, overseeing and managing two offices in the USA.
The General Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Oversee the general management, coordination, and leadership of Houston operations, ensuring efficient and effective processes.
- Formulate and implement a clear strategy for the growth and development of the Houston operations, aligning with overall company goals.
- Monitor and manage performance, allocating resources effectively to meet strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international customers, strategic service providers, and various C&F and Project Cargo Networks.
- Utilize deep knowledge of the Houston logistics market to drive business success and stay competitive.
- Work closely with internal departments such as Commercial, Compliance, HSEC, and Finance, as well as overseas offices and branches, to ensure seamless service delivery and operational improvements.
The General Manager will have the following requirements and skill sets:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in senior management, successfully overseeing teams of 50 or more full-time employees
- Minimum 10 years of management experience in a commercial environment, including knowledge of sales, warehousing operations, and customer service.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and logistics management, including the full scope of clearing and forwarding services.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions, handle tight scheduling, and manage high-volume, fast-paced activities.
- Strong analytical mindset, using operational and financial data (KPIs) to make sound business decisions.
- Exceptional commercial and entrepreneurial acumen, consistently driven by a self-starter mindset and a strong focus on achieving results.
- Proven ability to work on cross-functional and multicultural teams, with superior leadership and influencing skills.
