Job Title: Lead Project Process Engineer
Location: Baton Rouge
Responsibilities
- Make operational and design changes recommendation and develop process improvement ideas to resolve plant-specific problems.
- Review project specifications, including material and energy balances, equipment sizing, and other documents created by junior engineers or prepare these documents.
- Lead the development and review of control strategies.
- Ensure project/process design is compliant with relevant industry standards and codes.
- Participate in PHA/HAZOP and collaborate with Safety and Environmental teams.
- Provide leadership and technical support during project start-up and commissioning.
- Mentor or supervise junior engineers.
- May act as a lead engineer or project manager for any size project
- Firm understanding on how to efficiently deploy resources to complete multiple projects or improvement ideas.
- Act as a primary contact between engineering and other departments.
- Activity monitor project status, addressing schedules, budgets, and work quality and implement solutions to meet internal KPIs.
- Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to troubleshoot process issues.
- Present process improvement opportunities or status updates to senior management.
- Film understanding of batch and continuous unit operations and continuously develop process knowledge.
- Firm understanding of project management principles and how to apply them in practice.
- Understand production and business parameters to drive relevant projects.
- Perform work with a high degree of latitude while keeping leadership informed of any positive/negative risks which could impact the overall department.
- Organize and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide process-related support to operations and engineering projects.
- Participate in regulatory activities and project commissioning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering).
- 10+ years of related experience in engineering design of chemical plants, including hands-on troubleshooting experience.
- Experience in RMP and PSM environments
- Strong understanding of different unit operations or project management concepts.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and equipment used in the chemical industry.
- Organized capable of managing multiple projects concurrently
- Strong communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills, including ability to concisely / effectively communicate complex technical issues to non-technical people.
- Analytical thinking skills, including ability to analyze and interpret large data sets.
- Motivated and results-oriented individual.
- Firm understanding of cost/ schedule impacts on design and projects
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Comfortable with moderate travel (25)
