Safety Engineer

The Safety Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining workplace safety and health programs that comply with relevant regulations. Additional requirements include ISO 14001, corporate EH&S standards, internal management system standards and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop & implement action plans, processes, audits and procedures to control safety risks
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, as well as create JHA revalidations
  • Establish processes to conduct assessments that proactively identify hazards and mitigate risks
  • Run hazard identification and risk assessments, pre-startup safety reviews, job safety analysis, machine guarding and more
  • Analyze work tasks and environments, including third-party industrial environmental evaluations
  • Use ergonomic assessment methods/tools to drive improvements
  • Perform trending analysis to enhance EH&S performance
  • Gather data and develop reports to identify gaps
  • Ensure emergency response plan remains up-to-date with regulatory requirements and site needs
  • Respond to emergency events within the plant to control effects and restore normal operations
  • Implement programs for contractors and construction projects in alignment with company standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health (or relevant discipline)
  • ASP Certification (CSP or CIH Preferred)
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment - heavy, industrial, machinery, glass preferred
  • Previous experience executing behavioral-based safety programs
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Training with multiple safety programs such as confined space, fall protection, ergonomics and more
  • Experience implementing EHS programs aligned to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and more
