OVERVIEW

We're seeking a highly organized and strategic Buyer to support both direct and indirect procurement needs within a fast-paced, project-driven environment. This role requires a proactive professional with experience in government contracting, particularly with FAR and DFAR compliance, who can manage sourcing, negotiate vendor contracts, and ensure timely delivery of marine-related goods and services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source and purchase marine-specific materials, equipment, and services to support multiple ongoing projects.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement.
  • Read and interpret drawings and technical specifications to generate accurate material takeoffs.
  • Coordinate with project management and internal stakeholders to align purchasing with production schedules.
  • Track orders and manage inventory while ensuring documentation meets compliance standards, including FAR/DFAR regulations.
  • Cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and support audits or government reporting as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4+ years of procurement experience, ideally in maritime, FAR/DFAR, or a government contracting environment.
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFAR and other government acquisition regulations.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and collaborate across functional teams.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications such as APICS, C.P.M. or C.P.S.M. are a plus.
