Job Title: Area Warehouse Manager

Job Summary:
The Area Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the receiving, warehousing, distribution, and shipping functions to ensure efficient operations and compliance with company policies and industry standards. This role involves leading warehouse teams, optimizing material flow, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and implementing process improvements to achieve financial and operational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage receiving, warehousing, and distribution activities while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

  • Develop and oversee material flow, delivery, and presentation to production lines.

  • Ensure inventory accuracy and maintain optimal stock levels to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and expedited freight expenses.

  • Implement and maintain warehouse reporting systems, track performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Conduct regular audits, cycle counts, and physical inventory reconciliation.

  • Identify and evaluate new materials, suppliers, and processes to enhance quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state warehousing, material handling, and shipping regulations.

  • Plan and implement warehouse layouts and maintain facility conditions, including equipment inspections and necessary repairs.

  • Maintain consistent attendance and work extended hours as needed to support business operations.

  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to equal opportunity policies.

  • Comply with IATF 16949/ISO 9001 and 14001 work instructions and participate in Environmental Management Team activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 1-5 warehouse employees, ensuring proper training, performance management, and professional development.

  • Assign and oversee tasks, conduct performance evaluations, and address employee concerns in accordance with company policies and labor regulations.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Materials/Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Preferred: Master's degree in Materials/Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum: 5+ years of experience in warehousing within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Preferred: Experience in the automotive industry, particularly in occupant safety restraint systems. Familiarity with IATF 16949/ISO 9001 and 14001, Toyota Production System, and unionized environments.

Technical and Computer Skills:

  • Minimum: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and warehouse management systems.

  • Preferred: Experience with QAD and Man IT systems.

Language and Communication Skills:

  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and operational procedures effectively.

  • Capable of presenting information clearly to management, clients, and employees.

Mathematical and Analytical Skills:

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, inventory management calculations, and financial data interpretation.

  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to warehouse operations.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:

  • Strong ability to assess complex warehouse challenges, collect relevant data, and implement effective solutions.

  • Capability to interpret technical instructions and adapt to dynamic warehouse environments.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to walk, sit, stand, and use hands for handling materials.

  • Occasionally required to kneel, stoop, or crouch.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.

  • Strong vision abilities, including close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustments.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to moving machinery, airborne particles, and temperature variations.

  • Moderate to loud noise levels in production areas.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes as required.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adherence to all health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Participation in Environmental Management Team initiatives and execution of the Environmental Management System.
