Title: EHSQ Specialist

Location: Greater Los Angeles Area

Position Overview:

The EHSQ Specialist will be responsible for supporting a facility in the greater Los Angeles, CA area, ensuring operations are safe and environmentally responsible for both employees and the community. This role involves ensuring compliance with various regulations, and developing, implementing, and managing environmental, health, safety, and quality procedures to continuously improve operations. The specialist will also provide daily support and training to employees.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Foster a culture of safety, ensure compliance with regulations through procedure development, audits, and document management, and serve as the main contact with local regulators for site safety and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct employee training on health, safety, and environmental issues, maintain comprehensive training records, communicate safety concerns to management and employees, and evaluate new products, materials, and processes for hazard communication and safety procedures.
  • Lead incident investigations, follow up on action plans to prevent recurrence, and manage document control in accordance with ISO/Corporate standards using SharePoint. Keep up-to-date with corporate EHSQ standards, implement improvements, and train staff on changes.
  • Oversee the emergency response program and medical monitoring initiatives in line with corporate guidelines and the plant's Integrated Contingency Plan. Develop and implement site industrial hygiene protocols, including managing the personal protective equipment program.
  • Drive the plant's waste reduction and behavioral safety programs, focusing on sustainable practices and positive reinforcement. Collaborate with production teams to review and enhance health, safety, environmental, and quality processes, including providing hands-on laboratory support as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (Environmental, H&S engineering, or similar) and/or equivalent experience in a chemical/manufacturing setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulations is advantageous.
  • Experience with laboratory bench work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write and review procedures.
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP.
