Maintenance Reliability Engineer
Job Summary:
My client is seeking a Maintenance Reliability Engineer to enhance the reliability and performance of equipment and processes at our food and beverage manufacturing facility. This role will focus on implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, analyzing equipment failures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maximize uptime, efficiency, and product quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance engineering, reliability methodologies, and food manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Utilize root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify and resolve equipment failures.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), and MTTR (Mean Time to Repair).
- Work closely with maintenance and production teams to optimize equipment reliability and performance.
- Implement and maintain CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for tracking maintenance activities and asset performance.
- Support capital projects by specifying reliability requirements for new equipment installations and modifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and operations, to ensure equipment meets food safety and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, GMPs).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Train and mentor maintenance technicians on best practices for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Manage vendor relationships for equipment reliability support and spare parts procurement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Mechanical, Industrial or
Manufacturing Engineering - Minimum 5 years' experience in an industrial manufacturing environment (Food/Beverage preferred) * Minimum 2 years' experience in maintenance, reliability or industrial engineering
- Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles, including RCA, FMEA, and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Proficiency in CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, or similar).
- Experience with PLC systems, automation, and control systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMPs) and compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives in manufacturing
