Quality Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with expertise in Failure Analysis within the Semiconductor Industry. The ideal candidate will play a key role in analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving product failures to ensure the highest standards of quality in our semiconductor products. This role requires a deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, failure mechanisms, and advanced analytical techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Failure Analysis: Lead and conduct failure analysis on semiconductor devices, components, and systems to identify root causes of product defects or performance issues. Utilize techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray, FTIR, and other characterization tools to perform thorough analysis.
Root Cause Investigation: Perform detailed root cause analysis for various failure modes, including electrical, mechanical, and material-related issues. Recommend corrective and preventive actions to mitigate product failures and ensure future product reliability.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze failure data from production, customer returns, and field reports. Prepare detailed failure analysis reports and communicate findings to cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and quality management.
Collaboration with R&D and Manufacturing Teams: Work closely with research & development and manufacturing teams to investigate failure trends, propose design improvements, and optimize manufacturing processes for enhanced product quality and yield.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality by applying failure analysis results to refine product design and manufacturing processes. Contribute to process control improvements, including equipment calibration, test setups, and quality assurance processes.
Risk Assessment and Reliability Testing: Perform risk assessments and support reliability testing procedures for new and existing semiconductor products. Help ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., JEDEC, IEC, IPC) and customer-specific quality requirements.
Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA): Lead and participate in FMEA sessions to evaluate potential failure modes and their impact on product reliability. Work with design and manufacturing teams to develop effective mitigation strategies.
Customer Interaction: Assist in customer support by providing technical expertise in failure analysis, addressing customer concerns, and presenting failure analysis results to customers when required.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in quality engineering, failure analysis, or reliability engineering within the semiconductor industry.
Proficiency in failure analysis tools and techniques, such as SEM, FIB (Focused Ion Beam), X-ray, and other failure characterization methods.
Hands-on experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, packaging, and testing.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Solid understanding of semiconductor materials, physics, and failure mechanisms.
Proficiency in using failure analysis software and data analysis tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications (optional):
Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) certification is a plus.
Failure Analysis Certification (such as from the International Society of Electronic and Packaging Engineers) is a plus.
