Materials Manager

Job Summary: The Material Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, and distribution of materials required for production. This role ensures that materials are available as needed, inventory levels are maintained, and costs are controlled. The Material Manager will work closely with the production, procurement, and logistics teams to optimize material flow and support the company's operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement material management strategies to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular audits to maintain accuracy.
  • Analyze material usage and forecast future material needs.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with production and procurement teams to align material availability with production schedules.
  • Manage and optimize warehouse operations, including storage, handling, and distribution of materials.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in material handling and storage.
  • Prepare and present reports on material management performance and inventory status.
  • Lead and mentor a team of material handlers and warehouse staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in material management, preferably in the packaging industry.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in material handling.
