Packaging Procurement Manager
Position Overview: A company in the consumer goods industry is seeking a Packaging Procurement Manager to oversee packaging spend, support new packaging development, evaluate potential vendors, and drive cost optimization efforts for internal manufacturing sites and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research on packaging materials, monitor pricing trends, and perform cost analyses.
- Analyze upstream commodities and develop cost models.
- Oversee direct and indirect packaging costs across various product lines.
- Track and implement packaging procurement strategies.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicator (KPI) reports for packaging procurement.
- Collaborate with packaging engineering to troubleshoot and resolve packaging-related challenges.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to enhance cost efficiency and vendor quality.
- Work with Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D teams on vendor qualification and management.
- Support the budgeting process for packaging procurement.
- Assist in supplier negotiations and contract execution.
- Identify cost and operational efficiencies within packaging procurement.
- Coordinate periodic packaging reconciliations with internal and external partners.
- Contribute to the development of sustainable packaging initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in packaging or a related field.
- Up to 6 years of experience working with data, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Understanding of manufacturing cost models and processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data to various organizational levels.
- Effective project management skills.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
