Plant Controller

The Plant Controller is a key member of the plant leadership team and serves as a strategic partner in driving financial performance, operational efficiency, and business growth. This role is responsible for overseeing all financial functions at the manufacturing site, including cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal controls. The Plant Controller ensures compliance with company policies, GAAP, and relevant regulations, while providing insightful analysis to support decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all financial operations at the plant, including month-end close, reporting, and variance analysis.

  • Develop and maintain accurate standard costing and inventory valuation systems.

  • Partner with operations to analyze production performance, material usage, labor efficiency, and cost drivers.

  • Prepare and manage the annual plant budget and periodic forecasts.

  • Monitor capital expenditures and ensure compliance with approval processes.

  • Implement and maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate policies and SOX requirements (if applicable).

  • Collaborate with corporate finance, supply chain, and operations teams to support strategic initiatives.

  • Lead financial audits and coordinate with external and internal auditors.

  • Train and develop accounting staff, ensuring high performance and compliance with best practices.

  • Provide financial guidance to the Plant Manager and other functional leaders.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting.

  • Experience in chemical or process manufacturing industry highly preferred.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
