Job Summary: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement activities for our construction projects within the defense sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing equipment, materials, and services, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring that all purchasing activities align with company objectives and compliance requirements. This role is an inidividual contributor role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies: Create and execute purchasing strategies that support construction projects and align with company goals.
- Vendor management: Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, timely delivery, and compliance with contract terms.
- Negotiation: Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to secure the best prices and conditions.
- Budget management: Prepare and manage the procurement department budget, ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including defense sector-specific regulations.
- Market analysis: Conduct market research to forecast price trends and identify changes in buyer-supplier power dynamics.
- Reporting: Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Issue resolution: Manage and resolve any issues with supplies and suppliers promptly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and ensure clear documentation of requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the construction or telecommunications sector
- Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Certifications: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification is preferred.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of procurement processes, market analysis, and defense sector regulations.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Office setting with occasional site visits to construction locations.
- Travel: Some travel may be required to meet with suppliers and visit project sites.
