Transportation Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Transportation Manager to join team. The successful candidate will focus on optimizing freight operations and driving cost savings across our transportation network while maintaining high standards for efficiency, service, and compliance. In addition, this role will act as the central point of contact for suppliers and branch managers, coordinating logistics to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Savings & Optimization:
    • Analyze freight expenses and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising service quality.
    • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and strategies for transportation and logistics.
    • Negotiate contracts, rates, and terms with carriers and third-party logistics providers.
  • Freight Operations Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day transportation activities, including scheduling, route planning, and carrier selection.
    • Monitor freight shipments to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
    • Optimize loads per shipment to enhance cost efficiency.
    • Call trucking companies on behalf of branch managers to schedule shipments.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Track and analyze key transportation metrics (e.g., freight cost per shipment, on-time delivery rates).
    • Develop data-driven insights and present cost-saving recommendations to senior management.
  • Vendor and Carrier Relationships:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and logistics partners.
    • Act as the focal point for communication between suppliers and branch managers, ensuring coordination and alignment.
    • Ensure adherence to service agreements and performance benchmarks.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure all transportation activities comply with local, national, and international regulations.
    • Maintain safety standards and promote a culture of compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in transportation management, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive cost reductions.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
