Responsibilities:
- Client Management: Develop and manage relationships with clients in the dry bulk chartering sector, including shipowners, charterers, trading houses, producers, and commodity logistics/supply chain companies.
- Negotiation: Negotiate spot and time charters across various vessel classes (Handymax, Panamax, Supramax) to maximize revenues.
- Charter Contracts: Negotiate and close new charter party contracts, ensuring all relevant documentation is complete and adheres to company standards and procedures.
- Issue Resolution: Liaise with operations and internal/external counterparties to resolve any issues arising on the dry cargo desk.
- Market Analysis: Identify new market opportunities within the dry bulk/dry cargo sector and maintain a handle on industry news and market analysis to execute global business development strategies.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in ship brokerage focused on the dry cargo charter desk across various vessel classes.
- Track Record: Proven success in developing and closing business within the dry cargo space with existing client relationships.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of charter party agreements and documentation, with the ability to review and negotiate terms of business with customers.
- Market Insight: Deep understanding of the dry cargo/dry bulk sector, ability to analyze and produce in-depth market reports highlighting trends and pricing data.
- Communication Skills: Proficient and effective communication skills in English; additional languages are beneficial.
