Job Summary: My client is seeking an experienced Merchandise Planner to join our dynamic team in Nashville, Tennessee. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail, with a proven ability to create and execute merchandise plans by category on a weekly basis, while understanding sales and financial analysis. This role requires constant re-forecasting and the creation of assortment plans, working cross-functionally with buyers, merchant partners, and category managers to determine which SKUs belong in each store location. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of these processes and be able to span across different worlds within the retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally with buyers, merchant partners, and category managers.
- Create merchandise plans by category on a weekly basis, understanding sales and financial analysis.
- Constantly re-forecast merchandise plans to adapt to changing sales trends.
- Create and implement assortment plans to optimize product offerings.
- Determine SKU placement in stores based on analysis and collaboration.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure alignment of merchandise plans with overall business goals and strategies.
- Monitor inventory levels and make adjustments as needed to meet sales targets.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve merchandise planning processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years of retail experience, including at least 3-5 years in planning, merchandising, or inventory management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret sales data.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in merchandise planning software and tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with advanced merchandise planning and forecasting techniques.
- Familiarity with retail inventory management systems.
- Proven track record of successful merchandise planning in a retail setting.
