My client, a leader in the pharmaceuticals industry, is hiring an experienced and strategic Director of External Manufacturing Procurement - Drug Substance to join their esteemed pharmaceuticals firm based in Philadelphia. The role is pivotal in developing procurement strategies for large molecule and vaccine drug substances, leading a team that collaborates with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs). This position offers a hybrid working arrangement and requires significant expertise in the drug substance sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement strategic sourcing plans aligning with the company's overall supply strategy.
  • Lead complex contract negotiations with CMOs swiftly and effectively.
  • Analyze market intelligence to benchmark the CMO landscape, supporting robust category strategies.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders to align supply chain insights with business strategies.
  • Manage financial budgets for contract manufacturing including negotiations and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and uphold standards including third-party risk management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, procurement, or a relevant technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in procurement management focusing on large molecule/biologics and vaccine drug substances or products from CMOs.
  • Proven track record of developing sourcing strategies across various geographies and managing global/regional projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business administration or related field desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong internal and external networks.
  • Strong project management skills along with advanced analytical capabilities.
