Electrical Design Engineer Supervisor
I am working with a leading manufacturer of refrigeration systems and display cases, generating over $100 million in annual revenue. They are seeking an Electrical Design Supervisor Engineer for their Ramsey, MN location.
Role Summary: The Electrical Design Engineer Supervisor will research, design, develop, plan, and select components for electromechanical and electronic control systems. The role involves directing and coordinating activities related to the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of commercial and industrial refrigeration products. This experienced-level position requires minimal supervision and involves coordinating and directing the work of other engineers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical control systems, schematics, and panel layouts.
- Specify components for refrigeration and power distribution systems.
- Analyze customer proposals, specifications, and manuals.
- Communicate with sales and customers about product designs and performance.
- Ensure products meet quality, cost, and efficiency standards.
- Write proposals and change orders.
- Coordinate manufacturing activities to meet specifications.
- Evaluate equipment and recommend design modifications.
- Develop testing methods and procedures.
- Perform project cost analysis and implement cost reduction strategies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct 5 to 10 employees in the Engineering Department.
- Determine work assignments, conduct performance evaluations, and handle disciplinary matters.
- Train employees and address complaints.
- Promote a team approach to operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent preferred; Associate's degree with relevant experience considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical control panel design.
- Experience with digital design, panel layout, schematic design, ladder logic programming, and system testing.
- Understanding of electrical power distribution and VFDs for motor control.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks Electrical preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of UL508A and NFPA 70 (NEC).
- High electro-mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sense of urgency.
- Proficiency in Windows Office software, CADD, and ERP software.
