Job Overview:
The Plant Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective production processes while meeting quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role will require leadership in managing a team, implementing operational improvements, and overseeing plant performance to meet company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management:

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient and high-quality production.
  • Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring that targets are met while optimizing resource utilization.
  • Monitor plant performance and key metrics, analyzing production data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., supply chain, quality control, maintenance) to ensure seamless production flow.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, minimizing downtime and disruptions to the production schedule.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, supervise, and develop plant staff, including production supervisors, operators, and support personnel.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained, motivated, and adhere to safety and performance standards.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees to foster continuous development.
  • Create and maintain a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and employee engagement.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all production processes comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Work closely with the quality control team to ensure all products meet customer specifications and are of the highest quality.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to safety, quality, and production efficiency.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to regulatory and safety standards.

Cost Control and Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the plant's budget, ensuring that production costs remain within allocated budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve productivity, and optimize the use of resources.
  • Oversee inventory management to minimize waste and ensure adequate stock levels of raw materials and finished goods.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards:

  • Ensure the plant maintains a safe working environment by enforcing workplace safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions to address safety issues.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste disposal, emissions, and sustainability initiatives.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production processes, equipment, and employee training to enhance plant performance.
  • Lead efforts to implement lean manufacturing principles, automation, and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Evaluate new technologies and production techniques to improve operational efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing management, with a proven track record of successful plant management.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and quality control techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with budget management, cost control, and resource optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations within the manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (preferred).
  • Proficiency in manufacturing software (ERP, MES) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heavy machinery, noise, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, as required by production schedules.
