The challenge
The global semiconductor crisis lasted nearly three years, stemming from an ever-increasing demand and a decrease in supply, catalyzed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The global supply chain network was affected, and our client, a company focused on infotainment systems, was no exception.
Candidates were driving the market, and businesses globally were all fighting for the same pool of professionals with semiconductor experience, making it extremely difficult to attract and secure talent. Our client had the additional challenge of also being based in a remote location in Germany, meaning whoever took the role would either need to be from the local area or open to relocating.
This really limited their pool of available candidates, and they struggled to find the right skillsets to navigate the crisis they were currently experiencing.
The solution
DSJ Global were onboarded as supply chain talent experts to support the firm in this critical search for a Global Category Manager. We have 14 offices across 3 continents, giving us access to an expansive network of specialist candidates to tap into.
This was key for our client as it gave them access to talent in different regions and countries that they wouldn’t have looked at or considered without DSJ Global.
We also supported them throughout the hiring process as they were sourcing in such a competitive space. We consulted on the interviews and screening to ensure they were positioning the company and role in the best way, as well as using our industry-leading benchmarking and compensation insights so they could offer the most competitive package to potential candidates.
The result
This wider reach, access to different talent pools, and optimized hiring experience resulted in us finding and placing a Global Category Manager for Electronics / Semiconductors into the business. They had the exact skillset our client required, allowing delayed projects to restart and meant the client could accept new jobs without the fear of cancellation or loss of business.
The value-add DSJ Global proved meant the client asked us for support with a further seven placements throughout the shortage, and we delivered on 100% of the vacancies, a total of eight placements over three years.
Summary
Despite the global semiconductor crisis and challenge of our clients remote location, we leveraged our extensive network to secure a crucial role. This hire enabled delayed projects to restart and new opportunities to be accepted, continuing revenue generation for the business. Our successful placement rate solidifies our reputation as a trusted supply chain talent partner.
