DSJ Global is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Commodity Manager, Steel to join our client's team in Shreveport, Louisiana. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of procurement within the steel sector.
Procurement Management:
The ideal candidate should have excellent knowledge and understanding of procurement processes as well as strong negotiating abilities that can successfully manage vendor relationships while ensuring high-quality materials are obtained at competitive prices.
Supply Chain Optimization:
Our new hire must also possess exceptional analytical capabilities when it comes to optimizing logistics plans by reducing lead times from vendors through efficient sourcing methods.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
This role requires someone who has the ability to create goals aligned with business objectives then implement strategies designed specifically around meeting those targets on time and under budget constraints.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Billet Contract and Procurement Management: Oversee contracts and procurement processes for billets and develop a secondary supplier.
- Scrap Commodity Management: Manage scrap commodities.
- Logistics Commodity Management: Oversee logistics commodities.
- Processors Management: Supervise procurement for quenching & tempering, threading, and couplings.
- Auxiliaries Commodity Management: Manage auxiliary commodities.
Reporting Structure:
- Directly report to the Vice President of Procurement while functionally reporting to the Plant Manager in Shreveport.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience (steel)
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers/vendors
- Familiarity with supply chain management principles
