Job Title: Director of Procurement - Renewable/Solar Industry
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid role) 50/50 split
Position Overview: The Director of Procurement will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing procurement strategies and processes within the renewable/solar sector. This position will lead the procurement team, working closely with suppliers, stakeholders, and internal departments to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services necessary for our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with the company's goals, focusing on cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and quality within the renewable/solar industry.
Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing procurement team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, finance, etc.) to identify procurement needs and requirements for various projects.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to secure favorable pricing, delivery, and quality of goods and services.
Drive supplier performance evaluations, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and identifying areas for improvement.
Implement best practices, processes, and systems to streamline procurement operations and enhance efficiency.
Monitor market trends, identify potential risks, and proactively develop mitigation strategies to address supply chain challenges.
Analyze procurement data and prepare regular reports to provide insights, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and support decision-making at the executive level.
Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and innovations to drive continuous improvement and innovation in procurement processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
Proven experience (12+ years) in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management within the renewable/solar industry, demonstrating progressive leadership responsibilities.
In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation, vendor management, and strategic sourcing principles.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Proficiency in utilizing procurement software and tools for data analysis and process optimization.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
A commitment to sustainability and a strong understanding of the environmental impact of procurement decisions within the renewable/solar industry.
