Job Summary: The Director of Retail Planning is responsible for leading the planning and allocation strategy to maximize sales, profit, and inventory turn. This role involves strategic planning, forecasting, merchandise allocation, and performance analysis. The Director of Retail Planning will collaborate closely with merchandising, finance, and operations teams to ensure that inventory levels are aligned with consumer demand and company goals.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Forecasting:
- Develop and implement comprehensive retail planning strategies to achieve sales and profitability targets.
- Oversee the creation of sales forecasts, seasonal plans, and promotional strategies.
- Conduct market and trend analysis to inform planning decisions.
Inventory Management:
- Ensure optimal inventory levels across all retail locations.
- Manage the allocation of merchandise to stores based on sales trends and inventory turnover.
- Monitor inventory performance and adjust plans as necessary to minimize stockouts and overstocks.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to inform planning decisions.
- Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management.
- Utilize data-driven insights to optimize product assortments and improve sales performance.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Partner with merchandising, finance, and operations teams to align planning strategies with overall business goals.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of plans.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovative thinking and continuous improvement.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of retail planners and analysts.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback and coaching.
- Identify training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the retail planning budget.
- Monitor expenses and ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in retail planning, merchandising, or a related field.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful retail planning strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.

- Proficient in retail planning software and advanced Excel skills.
