Job Summary:
As an Air and Ocean Import Export Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end import and export processes for both air and ocean shipments. Your role will involve handling customs documentation, coordinating with carriers and clients, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing operations to deliver outstanding service. You will work closely with our logistics, operations, and customer service teams to ensure efficient, on-time delivery across all global trade lanes.
Key Responsibilities:
Import and Export Operations:
- Coordinate and manage air and ocean import/export shipments, ensuring timely, cost-effective transportation.
- Arrange bookings with airlines, shipping lines, and other carriers based on client requirements.
- Monitor shipments throughout the transit process to ensure on-schedule delivery.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare, review, and process all required documentation, including bills of lading, certificates of origin, customs declarations, and invoices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including EU, German, and international import/export laws.
- Collaborate with customs authorities, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to clear shipments smoothly.
Customer Service and Coordination:
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients regarding shipment inquiries, updates, and issue resolution.
- Provide clients with shipping quotes, track shipment progress, and keep clients updated on any potential delays or issues.
- Coordinate with other departments to meet client-specific requirements and resolve operational issues.
Vendor and Carrier Management:
- Negotiate rates with carriers and vendors to ensure cost-efficient transport solutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, suppliers, and external partners to support ongoing operations and business growth.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Accurately input and maintain shipment data within the company's ERP or logistics management system.
- Generate and review shipment and cost reports, using data to identify areas for operational improvement.
- Provide analysis on transport costs, transit times, and other key metrics to enhance efficiency.
