Position Overview:
The Plant Manager will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and leadership of our metal extrusion plant. This includes overseeing production, quality control, staffing, equipment maintenance, safety, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, with specific experience in metal extrusion, leadership, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Lead and manage daily operations of the plant to meet production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor production schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
- Oversee the extrusion process, including temperature control, die design, and press optimization.
- Ensure the plant operates within budget and contributes to financial performance by improving productivity and reducing costs.
Quality Control & Continuous Improvement:
- Ensure all products meet the required specifications and quality standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, product quality, and production capacity.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain adherence to industry and company quality standards.
Safety & Compliance:
- Champion safety within the plant by ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, as well as company policies.
- Lead the development and implementation of safety training programs and ensure a culture of safety is maintained.
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols and environmental standards to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production staff, engineers, and supervisors to achieve plant objectives.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team culture.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and address employee concerns or issues.
Maintenance & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of extrusion machinery, furnaces, cooling systems, and other production equipment.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Coordinate with the engineering and maintenance teams for timely repairs and upgrades.
Budgeting & Reporting:
- Develop and manage the plant's annual budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and maximizing profitability.
- Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management, including production efficiency, quality metrics, and safety performance.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. A Master's degree or additional certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operations Management is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in plant management, with at least 3 years in a metal extrusion or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of extrusion processes, machinery, and production techniques.
- Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and achieving production goals.
- Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.
