Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Controls System Engineer to join our team, a leading chemical manufacturing company. The Process Controls System Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems that ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control systems engineering, automation, and process optimization within a chemical manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design & Implementation:
- Develop, design, and implement process control systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA) for chemical manufacturing processes.
- Customize and configure control strategies to optimize production processes, ensuring they meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
- Lead the integration of new control systems with existing infrastructure, including sensors, instrumentation, and control devices.
- System Optimization & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor and analyze control system performance and provide recommendations for optimization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems, instrumentation, and process automation, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Implement process improvements based on data analysis and performance metrics.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure control systems are designed and maintained in compliance with industry safety standards, environmental regulations, and best practices.
- Work closely with safety engineers to implement hazard analysis, safety interlocks, and alarm management strategies.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with process engineers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to understand process requirements and ensure effective system design.
- Provide ongoing support to operations staff in the use and troubleshooting of control systems.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Create detailed documentation for control systems, including design specifications, operation manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
- Prepare and present reports on system performance, upgrades, and improvements to management.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in control systems, automation technologies, and industry trends.
- Proactively identify and implement improvements to enhance process control, efficiency, and safety.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in process control systems engineering, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, as well as instrumentation and control equipment.
- Strong understanding of process dynamics, control loops, and process automation.
