Job Requirements:
- Use independent judgment and discretion to procure components, materials, and equipment, considering factors such as price, delivery costs, demand levels, timing, market trends, and potential for design changes or obsolescence.
- Coordinate product deliveries to minimize inventory while ensuring production and service requirements are met. Evaluate financial and schedule risks to recommend appropriate order volumes.
- Conduct market research to identify potential vendors/suppliers and assess their viability for business needs. Evaluate vendor/supplier capabilities through factory audits and performance assessments, driving improvements as needed.
- Oversee the qualification and implementation of products from new suppliers by collaborating with internal engineering, quality, and production teams.
- Negotiate cost reductions, mitigate cost increases, and secure favorable terms using market data, technical insights, and strategic methods to maximize benefits.
- Initiate projects to source parts and recommend alternative designs or manufacturing methods for current parts and new prototype requests.
- Use quantitative skills and manufacturing expertise to perform cost analysis of products, including components and raw materials.
- Conduct variance analyses for price changes.
- Monitor supplier performance, provide feedback through a supplier scorecard, and ensure completion of Corrective Action reports for quality or delivery issues.
- Review and adjust key purchasing drivers (lead time, safety stock, lot size) to meet the current needs of the business.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in indirect purchasing is required.
- Experience with contract review is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with suppliers and coworkers.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Travel requirement: 0-5%.
