A multi-million dollar leading aerospace/defense contractor is seeking an experienced EHS professional to join them in the New York Metropolitan area to maintain the safety of the plant and ensure government/local regulations are being met. This role will be an individual contributor and play a key role in the areas of Environmental, Health and Safety.
The ideal qualifications of the Sr. Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist
- Bachelors Degree, required
- Working knowledge of OSHA principles
- Working Knowledge of DOT, preferred
- Previous experience working in the aerospace/chemicals/automotive industry or similar manufacturing environment
- Hazardous waste experience
- Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Clearance
The Responsibilities of the Sr. Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist
- Train employees new/tenured in the areas of safety to ensure the plant runs smoothly with minimal incidents
- Develop and implement strategies to maintain compliance with federal/state/local laws
- Conduct incident investigations and proactively make changes to the safety program to ensure they do not persist
- Lead the sites sustainability efforts to maintain compliance with federal/local regulations
- Perform root cause and corrective actions to ensure issues to not persist at the plant in the areas of EHS
- Conduct risk assessments to effectively mitigate risk and ensure jobs run effectively
- Perform internal/external audits and inspections
- Manage emergency preparedness plans including fire drills/emergency evacuation protocols etc., as required by law or company policy
- Hazardous waste experience
- Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Clearance
