Maintenance and Engineering Manager

We are currently seeking a skilled Maintenance and Engineering Manager to lead our maintenance and engineering teams in optimizing the performance of our manufacturing operations.

Job Summary:
The Maintenance and Engineering Manager will oversee the maintenance, repair, and optimization of all plant equipment and engineering systems. This role involves managing a team of engineers and technicians, driving continuous improvements in plant reliability and efficiency, and ensuring the plant operates in full compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical manufacturing operations, maintenance management, and engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure optimal performance and reliability of all manufacturing equipment and systems.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program to reduce downtime and extend the life of equipment.

  • Plan and supervise major equipment overhauls, upgrades, and installations to improve plant performance and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with production, quality, and EHS teams to address equipment issues, improve processes, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

  • Ensure the plant is operating in compliance with all relevant industry regulations, such as OSHA and EPA standards, and maintain all necessary certifications.

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for equipment failures or incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring cost-effective maintenance practices while maintaining high operational standards.

  • Manage capital improvement projects, including the selection of contractors, budgeting, and project execution.

  • Monitor equipment performance and analyze data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, safety, and reliability.

  • Develop training programs for the maintenance and engineering teams to enhance skills and ensure adherence to company standards.

  • Ensure effective inventory management of spare parts, tools, and materials to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in maintenance and engineering management, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of chemical plant systems, maintenance strategies (predictive, preventive), and engineering best practices.

  • Experience managing teams, contractors, and budgets effectively.

  • Familiarity with industrial control systems, automation, and equipment troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strong project management skills, with experience in capital projects and process optimization.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
