Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Engineer to join our team in the Greater Houston area. This role is ideal for a dedicated environmental professional with a strong background in regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, and regulatory reviews. The Senior Environmental Engineer will provide both strategic and hands-on support to drive environmental compliance across air, water, solid waste, and wetlands regulations. This position requires a proactive individual who can lead and mentor teams while ensuring that all environmental practices align with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide regulatory expertise to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations related to air, water, solid waste, and wetlands.
- Lead efforts to prepare and submit permit applications, renewals, and regulatory reports to maintain continuous compliance.
- Develop, define, and implement environmental programs and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and ensure best practices are followed.
- Maintain detailed and accurate environmental records, including compliance assurance documentation, permits, and reports.
- Offer coaching and hands-on support to staff, ensuring that all team members understand and adhere to environmental regulations and company standards.
- Conduct training sessions to promote environmental awareness and compliance across the organization.
- Perform regular regulatory reviews and assessments to identify potential areas of concern and mitigate any compliance risks.
- Work cross-functionally with operations, safety, and engineering teams to integrate environmental considerations into ongoing processes and activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical manufacturing or a related industry, with a focus on environmental engineering and regulatory compliance.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, including those pertaining to air, water, solid waste, and wetlands.
- Proven experience in preparing and managing environmental permits, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide coaching, training, and hands-on guidance to teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance assurance and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Certification in environmental or safety management (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional).
