Position Overview:
We are seeking a results-driven Commodity Director to lead procurement strategies and supplier relationships within the construction industry. This role will be responsible for overseeing sourcing, negotiating contracts, and driving cost efficiencies across key commodities critical to our projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and leadership, ensuring the alignment of procurement operations with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute comprehensive commodity strategies for construction materials, services, and equipment, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery objectives are met.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships, focusing on performance, compliance, and alignment with organizational standards.
- Negotiation & Contract Management: Lead high-level negotiations for long-term agreements, contracts, and pricing to achieve optimal value and mitigate risks.
- Cost Management: Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering, process optimization, and innovative sourcing initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of commodity managers and buyers, fostering professional growth and ensuring high performance across the team.
- Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, risks, and opportunities for assigned commodities, providing strategic insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, and other departments to align procurement goals with organizational priorities.
- Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and sustainability initiatives.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Leverage procurement analytics and tools to track supplier performance, monitor spend, and measure success against key performance indicators (KPIs).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or commodity management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the construction industry.
- Expertise in sourcing construction materials, equipment, and services, with a proven track record of cost reductions and process improvements.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and risk management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CPM, Six Sigma) is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- In-depth understanding of construction industry regulations, standards, and market dynamics.
