How to recognize a fake recruitment website

Fraudsters may also create fake versions of legitimate recruitment websites to steal personal data and money. Keep these key points in mind:

  • Check for SSL Certification โ€“ Look for the padlock symbol next to the website address. Click on it to verify the site's security certificate. If a site lacks SSL certification, it may be fraudulent.

  • Verify Website Information โ€“ A legitimate website should include an "About Us" section and valid contact details. If this information is missing, it could be a red flag.

  • Inspect the URL โ€“ Fraudulent sites may use slightly altered URLs with spelling errors or unusual domain extensions. If unsure, search for the official company website through Google rather than clicking a link directly.
