Position Overview:
The Director of Procurement will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the procurement strategy for the organization. This position is responsible for managing and leading the procurement team, developing cost-effective strategies, and ensuring that the company secures high-quality products and services while maintaining supplier relationships and managing risks. The Director of Procurement will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to drive efficiency, cost savings, and continuous improvement across the procurement function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor the procurement team, fostering a high-performance culture and professional development.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring cost optimization and operational efficiency.
- Oversee supplier selection, negotiation, and management to establish long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve procurement processes.
- Work closely with internal departments (e.g., finance, operations, supply chain) to understand business needs and support cross-functional initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices.
- Drive sustainability initiatives in the supply chain and encourage suppliers to adopt ethical, environmentally responsible practices.
- Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track procurement performance, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Mitigate procurement risks through robust contract management and supplier performance evaluation.
- Oversee the procurement budget and manage cost control initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in leading procurement teams and managing high-value contracts.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and cost reduction strategies.
- Knowledge of procurement software and tools, as well as MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to think critically, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong understanding of legal and regulatory aspects of procurement.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
