PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Trade commodities and other products under terms that maximize company profits.
- Manage cash grain, physical exchanges, and hedge execution.
- Process orders for risk positions.
- Perform low-cost analysis scenarios.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding grade reporting, accounting, bids, hours, contract status, etc., exceeding customer expectations.
- Maintain relationships with elevators, farmers, and feed mills, meeting and exceeding customer goals and objectives.
- Facilitate communication and exchange of business information between plants.
- Evaluate and communicate changing crop and market conditions to relevant managers promptly and accurately.
- Assist in maintaining U.S. production and supply and demand analysis for corn.
- Provide guidance and maintain open communication with accounting staff.
- Collaborate with operations teams to receive and maintain quality grain within our facilities.
- Identify market opportunities and present them to plant management to maximize profitability.
- Provide market intelligence to sales and operations to ensure optimal efficiencies within our facilities.
- Maintain grain warehouse licenses and perform tasks required to uphold them for the state.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, General Business, Finance, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in business economics, ag-business, and/or commodity trading with demonstrated analytical aptitude.
- Proficient in using computer software, including MS Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office and Power BI.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, market values, pricing, and margin factors is highly preferred.
- Sales knowledge is a plus.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of cash commodity trading and experience with the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) is desirable.
