Join a global leader in food production! A DSJ Global client, a leading food product manufacturer and home to countless well-loved brands, is seeking a Health and Safety Technician to develop and implement on-site health and safety systems and standards. This opportunity is located in their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Landover, Maryland.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the Health and Safety Management System in Landover, MD, ensuring compliance and driving system enhancements.
- Support accident and injury investigations, conducting root cause analysis.
- Identify and address safety risks on the premises.
- Perform internal audits and risk assessments across Health and Safety Management Systems (e.g., Task, DSE, COSHH).
- Serve as an on-site first responder, providing basic first aid as needed.
- Enhance visibility of H&S initiatives (Behavior Safety, Safe Work Permit process, Safety Observations, Near Miss) to all levels of management and recommend improvements.
- Engage and support onsite Safety Action Groups.
- Maintain monthly reports and track key performance indicators for the Landover site.
- Manage H&S training requirements, ensuring staff maintain current safety certifications.
- Stay updated on health and safety legislation and other regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
- Expertise in OSHA regulations within manufacturing environments.
- Thorough understanding of health and safety management systems, including ISO45001.
- Familiarity with OSHA and NFPA standards.
- Trained in risk assessment and audit procedures for health and safety.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
- Knowledgeable in continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
