Job Summary:
This is a permanent, on-site Quality Engineer position located at the Alabama US facility. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products throughout the entire development and manufacturing process.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive quality control plans for all operational activities.
- Manage customer Acceptance Data Package (ADP) creation, ensuring all elements are completed according to project milestones. This includes generating reports like non-conformance reports (NCRs), First Article Inspections (FAIs), and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) forms.
- Oversee the completion and closure of non-conformance (NC) documentation within our enterprise system, collaborating with quality assurance specialists (QAS) to meet customer deadlines.
- Lead the identification of containment actions, root cause analysis (RCA), and preventative measures for identified quality issues. You will also facilitate hardware resolution discussions with relevant technical teams via established review boards.
- Champion corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal quality standards. This requires strong interpretation skills for customer specifications, internal models, and contractual agreements.
- Provide support to quality inspection (QI), QAS, and supplier quality engineering (SQE) functions. This includes interpreting product definition requirements for both in-process and received components.
- Generate production quality metrics and leverage data analysis for continuous improvement projects. The goal is to minimize production losses and maximize throughput.
- Collaborate on the development and revision of process-based key inspection points (KIPs) and mandatory inspection reports (MIPs), ensuring alignment with manufacturing work instructions, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Possesses the ability to create, update, and utilize Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for risk identification and process improvement initiatives.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to ensure all products meet safety regulations before delivery to customers, vendors, and launch site operators.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering within the aerospace/aviation industry (or a closely related field with similar regulatory requirements).
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles as defined by ANSI Y14.5 and Y14.41.
- Proven experience utilizing industry-standard quality tools like FMEA, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
- Experience working with MES/ERP systems for production control and reporting is a plus.
- Experience with SAP is a plus, but not required.
- Prior experience with First Article Inspections (AS9102) is a plus.
- Familiarity with CAD, analysis, or mathematical software is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (aerospace or mechanical preferred) from an accredited university. An Associate's degree with relevant work experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with design teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept development to final testing and commissioning.
